About AES Conferences
The AES Annual Conference is our flagship event, bringing evolutionary biologists together from across Australasia each year. In 2026 we the Australasian Evolution Society will be joining forces with the Society of Australian Systematic Biologists (SASB) for a joint meeting in sunny Wollongong at the beautiful green and lush University of Wollongong campus.
The conference features:
- Plenary talks from leading researchers
- ECR plenary speakers selected from our Best Paper Awards
- Student and ECR flash/standard talk sessions
- Workshops and networking events
- Conference dinner
When: 2–4 December 2026. Three full days, starting early on Wednesday morning, 2 December, with sessions concluding by 5:00pm on Friday 4 December, followed by the conference dinner (6:00pm – 11:30pm). The full program will be released after registrations close on 8 November.
